For two decades the Multicultural Arts Initiative (MCAI) has been a funding and advocacy organization that supports culturally diverse artists and programming in the Pittsburgh region. Through the generous support of The Pittsburgh Foundation and the Heinz Endowments, MCAI has played a critical role in multicultural arts programming in Pittsburgh and the region.

The Multicultural Arts Initiative was informed by The Pittsburgh Foundation and the Heinz Endowments that 2010 will be the last year of funding. Because these two foundations have long represented the primary funding resource for MCAI, it is with great sadness that the MCAI board has determined that continuing operations is not possible and will cease operations as of December 31, 2010.

MCAI has awarded over $7 million to small and mid-sized arts organizations, individual artists and festivals. We thank you for this opportunity to provide financial support and advocacy to so many deserving and talented artists.
